Teacher and Therapist
I began practicing yoga soon after starting my job as a licensed mental health counselor. I was searching for a way to practice self-care, and yoga provided that for me. At first I only knew that yoga just felt good. After I began teaching yoga to my clients, I became convinced of the transformative power of yoga! I believe that yoga can heal the body, mind, and spirit. In April 2013, I took a 16-hour Therapeutic Yoga Training with Kate Graham of Soulful Yoga Therapy. In July 2014, I completed the 200-hour RYT with Chanel Luck and Radiant Yoga School. My hope is to provide a safe and nonjudgmental environment for students to release tension, get centered, and let all the rest fall away. Off the mat, I continue to work as a counselor and group therapist for adults who have been affected by anxiety, depression, trauma, and schizophrenia. I am happy to be able to bring yoga and mindfulness into my therapy practice as a way of helping clients heal and find peace. I am grateful to my teachers both past and present, Chanel Luck, Kate Graham, Becky Small, and to my sister Stephanie, for letting me practice head massages on her. I am also inspired by my college teacher and mentor, Virginia Johnson, who has always supported me and my dreams.
